We spend so much time making over women (and men!), and every single person has a different preference when it comes to their makeup. Some prefer heavier eyebrows, some like a bright lip, and some prefer no makeup at all! If you rarely wear makeup, suddenly wearing a full face can seem a little bit daunting.
Sometimes a natural makeup look is equally as effective! Our makeup artists are always giving tips on how to achieve “Flawless” natural makeup, and it’s easier than you think! We have put together a natural makeup tutorial which takes you through every step.

Base

Wash your face using a gentle cleanser and prep your skin with a moisturiser or primer suitable for your face. Priming improves your skin’s texture and creates a barrier between your makeup and your skin which helps prevent your makeup from sitting in your pores and causing breakouts. If you have dry skin, using a good moisturiser will stop makeup from gathering in dry areas and looking “cakey”.

Creating a good base to work with is key. Choosing the correct foundation shade will make or break your natural makeup look. Your foundation should be tested on your neck, just below your ear to give you the most accurate colour match. If you’re aiming for a natural makeup look, try using buildable, light to medium coverage foundations. This will give you the freedom to build up your foundation in areas with imperfections or redness. If you have oily skin, you may want to
opt for an oil free foundation. If your skin is dry, a hydrating foundation could be the best option. Apply a small amount of foundation to the centre of the face and work outwards using a sponge or brush.

Conceal

Your concealer should be one shade lighter than your foundation. Light reflective concealer works well under eyes to conceal dark circles, and concealer with a slightly green tinge is great for counteracting redness from pigmentation and blemishes. Add a small amount of concealer to the imperfection and lightly dab with a clean finger or concealer brush.

Blush and Bronze

Apply a small amount of blush to the apples of the cheeks to create a healthy pink glow. Add bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks, temples and forehead for a subtly contoured and sun kissed look.

Eyes and Eyebrows

Your eyebrows can completely transform your face. If your eyebrows are sparse or have gaps, make them more defined by using an eyebrow pencil, making soft strokes in the direction of the hair. If you feel your eyebrows need taming, pluck away the hairs that look out of place. If you don’t trust yourself, visit a salon to have them waxed or threaded.

Maintain a natural look by keeping eye makeup minimal. Curling your eyelashes and adding a quick coat of mascara will make your eyes stand out and appear brighter. Adding a dab of highlighter to the inner eye can make you look more awake and create the illusion of wider eyes.

Lips

Enhance your natural lip look by adding a coat of tinted lip balm or a sheer lipstick. Alternatively, lining your lips with a pencil as close to your natural lip colour as possible will accentuate the natural shape of your lips. This is a great option if you’re used to wearing bold lipstick.
