We’ve got a text! It says that Love Island is officially taking over our lives. From Caroline Flack herself to beloved contestants like Dani Dyer, we’ve seen plenty of makeup inspo over the past few years, and 2019’s line-up of beach babes isn’t short of glowing summer lovin’ looks either. Whether you’re Love Island obsessed or just here for the goss, it would only be right to share the beauty lowdown with you right? Blow dry it baby!
In a love triangle with you, your hair and the hairdresser? Amber’s voluminous curls and Lucie’s long beach waves are giving us all the feels this series and you’ll be happy to know the lock looks are easy to re-create. Get yourself a barrel brush and a powerful hair dryer for a natural wavy style that any islander would be envious of! As much as we love a silky sleek up-do, with a super speedy blow-dry, effort can be as minimal as possible and you’ll still look cute (round of applause).
P.S. Thanks to Dani’s eyelash blow-dry 101 last year, it seems the hairdryer is the perfect multi-use beauty saviour.
Bronze up
Are you a true Islander without a golden sun-soaked bikini bod? We don’t think so! Even if you can’t get abroad for the summer, reach for a hydrating, high-shine bronzing spray so you can hold onto your holiday high. Spritz on, envelope your skin and allow to dry for seriously good results that only 7 weeks in the villa could compete with.
Sweep bronzer onto your cheekbones, shoulders and décolletage and blend slightly into the crease of your eyes. We spotted the beautiful Lucie sporting this look in the evenings and the golden tones truly set her blue eyes ablaze!
Highlight and go
There must always be a highlighter to pair with a bronzer – it’s just the rules! We’re living for Amy’s supernova shine this season; and we’re super sure we’ll see the dewy glow rub off on the covers of magazines and Instagram pages for the next couple of months.
We suggest a warm-toned lustre highlight that’s soft, creamy, ultra-fine and light-as-air on the skin. Apply with a fan brush for next-level luminosity!
Hun bun heaven
We all love an updo and so far this year we’ve seen plenty of them. From Amber’s half up half down look to Amy’s chic side bun, this hairstyle can take any look from 0 – 100 in a matter of minutes, and what’s better is they’re so simple to scrape together, especially with us as your hair experts!
Last season, Kaz taught us that you simply cannot go on holiday without an obligatory headband and the more vibrant the better! Accessorize a simple look to really turn up the heat.
Amp up the lashes
Full lashes like Anna basically do the flirting for you. Want to rock that island glam? We recommend really focusing your attention on the eyes and even more so on your eyelashes. For the full lash effect, why not use a lick of your favourite volumising mascara and sweep on some wispy false eyelashes. Apply as close to your natural lash line as possible, using a waterproof eyelash glue, (for taking a dip in the pool or a few tears if recoupling doesn’t go the way you’d planned) to create fluttery and luscious lashes.
Eyeshadow
Your flirting technique isn’t the only thing you should practice before following the footsteps of this year’s Islanders. When it comes to an eye makeup, try to opt for an eyeshadow palette that doesn’t put all your eggs in one basket, but keeps things fairly neutral in case you want to switch up your look. It seems the Love Island ladies are living for coral and copper tones this series, so why not brighten up your look with sorbet orange tones for daytime sunbathing and adapt to a maroon metallic eyeshadow for steamy evenings.
Amid the dumping dramas of last season, Islander Samira shocked the makeup world with her fierce red glitter eyeshadow look and it’s fair to say we’re excited to see if it makes a comeback this series.
