Pageants Back On The Runway In 2021

We’ve all adapted to online life over the past year. Switching our work and social lives to online platforms. Individuals and businesses have had to get creative, and with all live events cancelled during lockdown, the prestigious Pageant industry is no exception.

Flawless Studios have proudly sponsored regional pageants across the North of England for over nine years, with our own ‘Judge Julie’ a familiar face on the scene. Julie recently joined the judges’ panel at three virtual events. She enjoyed the crowning of Miss Lincolnshire, Miss Yorkshire, Miss Elegance of the World, Miss Middlesbrough & Miss Sunderland with their runway walks filmed on mobile phones and shared over Zoom.

The world is changing and Pageants are about so much more these days than outer beauty. They enable women to present who they are and develop their personal skills, highlighting the talents that shape them. Encouraging and empowering women is at the heart of all we do at Flawless. Amidst the glitz and glamour of shows, contestants are hard working women with many interests, often holding down challenging careers behind the scenes and dedicated to voluntary and charity work, using pageants as a powerful platform to inspire other women.

In February, the innovative virtual Miss Lincolnshire pageant was featured on BBC Look North. The organizer, who was herself a winner 40 years ago, explained that pageants have moved with the times and are no longer simply a beauty contest. Contestants must partake in a ‘Beauty with a Cause’ round, competing to raise funds for local charities.

As lockdown eases across the UK, the Miss Manchester pageant will bridge the gap between virtual and physical events by hosting the Final at the Drive Inside Theatre at the Trafford Centre. From 17^th May onwards, live events will be back in business with a packed schedule across the north of England for the rest of the year.

Finalists from all pageants are invited into our Leeds, Manchester & Middlesbrough city centre studios for a professional portfolio shoot. This stunning collection of shots has launched the modelling careers of past contestants and is a much-coveted prize. Finalists are treated like VIPs, given the full star treatment from our Glam Squad, a confidence boosting session with our female photographers… and an opportunity to wear their glittering gowns and tiaras again!

It’s been an interesting year and as much as we’ve enjoyed connecting online, we can’t wait to be back in a room full of inspirational women, celebrating their talents and differences, and soaking up the magical Pageant atmosphere.
