How to make the most out of your shoot:
Test out different positions
Newsflash: you don’t have to stand in front of the camera and smile to get stunning maternity photos. Candid’s always work too and look even better when playing around with your poses and getting creative with nearby props and furniture. Why not take your place on our princess throne or in front of our vintage mirror?
Pick up a pair of baby shoes
We know you’re desperate to slip two teeny-tiny feet into some baby shoes, but while you’re patiently waiting, why not use them as props? Bring them along to your baby bump shoot and we can zoom in on them for a sweet take on your maternity pictures. Look at this snap we shot and edited in our studio recently.
Get your hands on a letter board
Add a playful element to your Bump To Baby Photography with letter boards! They’re having a serious moment on social media, and it’s so easy to see why —they’re a simple way to share adorable little messages (and we’re guessing you have plenty to say about pregnancy). You could even write a future message to your baby on board!
Join us with your partner
Just because the bump is the focal point doesn’t mean dad can’t have his time in front of the camera. Why don’t you bring your partner to share this special time with you? It can make for beautiful pictures like this which you’ll be able to look back on and remember for years ahead.
What to wear:
1. Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are perfect for maternity shoots as they are very comfortable and flattering. They’re fabulous for showing off your beautiful baby bump but are also lifesavers for covering up any lumps and bumps you might be insecure about.
2. Solid Colours
We recommend solid colours as this will help your bump stand out the most. Simple solid colour focuses the attention on your baby bump and doesn’t appear too distracting the way stripes or polka dots would.
3. For More Intimate/Sensual Images
If you’re thinking of doing a more intimate and sensual shoot, we recommend bringing along some nice lingerie or sheer baby doll dresses in muted colours. Sheer, lace robes are the go-to for a soft romantic look as they show off your baby bump but help hide any unflattering areas. You could also bring in fabric drapes for your maternity photo shoot like the gorgeous Katie pictured below.
When your baby is born, you’ll find the first few weeks are a whirlwind of life changing and truly magical moments. As you look at your child, you will at long last be able to see your
